Rita Kearton with Jim Burch

During October and early November 2003, Westacre River Studios were delighted to welcome talented print-maker Rita Kearton, whose work was exhibited in the foyer. Rita trained as an art teacher, but having completed post-graduate studies in 1998 she now works full-time as an artist, selling her work in galleries in England and Singapore.

Rita's work is inspired by personal memories, dreams or fairy tales heard as a child, and some of her prints have been produced for stories or children's poems. Rita has recently collaborated with poet Jim Burch and has illustrated several of his poems which were featured in her exhibition.

They have since produced the children's book, "Johnny went to Africa".

Jim has also done several readings of his poems and short stories at Westacre River Studios.
